loch katrine scotland
Loch Katrine Explorer

Distance 28Miles/45KM Grade moderate Time 4 hours

Embark on a Trossachs adventure through fabulous scenery on the banks of Loch Katrine, which inspired one of Sir Walter Scott’s best know poems ‘Lady of the Lake'. The route takes the virtually traffic-free lochside road to Brenachoile point (used as a setting in Outlander) and onwards to Stronachlachar, with spectacular views up and down the loch. This wild country was home to Rob Roy MacGregor, Scotland's own Robin Hood folk hero, and is steeped in Clan history. A cafe stop at Stronachlachar is a must. An optional 10-mile strenuous extension to Loch Lomond is available to those with iron legs, before we return by the same route.

Doune and Dunblane Explorer

Distance 28 Miles/45KM Grade moderate Time 4 hours

This is an enjoyable ride on minor roads and former railway lines to the charming, historic villages of Deanston, Doune and Dunblane. A quiet road follows the River Teith to the village of Deanston with its 18th-century cotton mill, now an award-winning distillery. We then visit Doune with its superb castle, recognisable to fans of Outlander and Monty Python. Onwards to Dunblane, with its spectacular medieval Cathedral and Victorian High Street.
Our return route along the minor Drumloist Road offers spectacular hill views and the chance to stop at McQueens Gin Distillery.

Loch Venachar Explorer

Distance 16Miles/25KM Grade easy Time 3-4 hours

Enjoy a leisurely ride by the banks of beautiful Loch Venachar in the heart of the Trossachs. Stops include Achray Farm where we can try homemade goat milk ice cream and the historic Brig o Turk Tea Room for excellent cake. Taking in some fabulous scenery and amazing views towards Ben Ledi, this easy tour is a fantastic introduction to the area. Mostly off road on The Lochs and Glens Way (NCN7) through woods, along the loch and on quiet minor roads, we enjoy a wonderful relaxing few hours riding in the Trossachs, taking in the wonderful views. A more strenuous extension to Loch Katrine can be added for cyclists who complete the route quickly.

Distance 29 Miles/47KM Grade moderate Time 4 hours

This is a more challenging ride to Balquhidder. Enjoy spectacular views along the former Oban Railway line, wheeling past the Falls of Leny and Loch Luibnig to Strathyre. There's an option to lunch at the Broch Cafe and the chance to look at some of the sculptures on the award-winning BLISS Art trail. A sleepy minor road leads to Balquhidder Kirk, its atmospheric graveyard the resting place of Rob Roy Macgregor. Our return route can include a stop for cake and coffee at Mhor 84, if you wish.
There is an optional challenging extension to Glen Ogle with its iconic viaduct.
